The National Antimicrobial Stewardship Point Prevalence Survey (NAS-PPS) System

Providing reference data on antimicrobial consumption in hospital settings

The National Antimicrobial Stewardship Point Prevalence Survey (NAS-PPS) System is a new UK initiative to provide reference data on antimicrobial consumption in hospital settings.

The system will provide a national benchmarking and training tool to Trusts and Boards across the UK to offer real time reporting on antimicrobial consumption that will inform the improvement, development and aid monitoring of antimicrobial stewardship programmes.

Available free of charge to all NHS hospital Trusts and Boards, the system will allow users to undertake local or regional, and should the appetite exist broader, point prevalence surveys and studies.  All data will be available via a national dashboard enabling trusts to view and if minded share their anonymised aggregated data, collaborate and learn from each other.

NAS-PPS will operate via an NHS compliant secure N3 server environment, enabling ease of access and meeting all NHS governance requirements.
